Healing Yourself Emotionally
When I am down and oh my soul’s weary; when troubles come and my heart burdened be; then I am still and wait here in the silence, until you come and sit a while with me. You raise me up so I can stand on mountains!
You get the gist- you’re troubled, tired and burdened and you’re unsure about what to do about it. This blog will give you some tips on self-care and define for you emotional healing so that you can stand on mountains and feel great!
I define emotional healing as the ability to release emotional blockages. These blockages may be numerous in number and be small or large traumas or griefs that one has experienced. With the release of emotional blockages, there is no longer an emotional response when you think about that occurrence or occurrences that have impacted you emotionally for days, weeks, or years. There are so many books, workshops and courses on this phenomena of emotional healing but what I am presenting in this blog is simple and doable just on your own.
The brain and mind play an important role in emotional healing and blockage release. Negative emotions are inflamed through continuous thought. Emotional healing to be effective has to be completed at both the subconscious and conscious levels. I know you may be thinking this is too difficult but it is not. It’s actually simple! The problem you may find however; is it is time consuming.
The body has an important role in emotional healing and blockage release. Negative emotions are stored in our energy centres also known as the chakras and can affect cells and organs in the body which may lead to disease. Negative emotions can be stored in each chakra from time of birth to the present day. Removing these negative emotions through spiritual healing can be useful to release and have lasting change in your life!
My Process to Release Emotional Blocks
- Chakra Healing through and with positive intention.
The way in which you release emotional blocks is to use your intuition to sense the chakras and their emotional burdens. A great way to do this is to do a chakra meditation on YouTube and see what you sense. I like to be guided by Jason Stephenson and take about 30 minutes to do the meditation. After the meditation, write down what you sense – which chakras felt blocked or unbalanced. Write down any extra information you sense, see or know about your emotional self.
Analysing Your Chakra System
Next, it’s time to get serious about yourself. Start to write down after reading the information in each paragraph the corresponding memories and emotions that you sense for each chakra.
- Starting with the fundamentals
Starting from the root chakra which corresponds to themes such as sense of belonging, safety and security. This chakra responds to your family dynamics and the way in which you were brought up. Therefore, if you had a traumatic or negatively eventful childhood this chakra may be still holding negative emotions from that time. This chakra corresponds to the physical self in the lower organs as well as the bones and blood. It is located at the base of the spine and is seen as the colour red. It is developing between birth and seven years of age. It is from here which you develop your sense of belonging, your sense of trust or mistrust of others and how you are known and seen in the world so any issues in these areas are to be brought to the surface through your own analysis. You have to be fucking honest with yourself. Start at birth and trace your family happenings until seven years of age. It may be useful to write down the negative emotions you carry at each age and take a deep breath and feel where in the body they are stored and see which chakra it corresponds to.
- Moving right along – sex and creativity
Next, we have the sacral chakra located just at the belly button. This chakras themes include sexuality, creativity and boundaries in relationships. It develops between 7 and 14. For this chakra, you need to look at all of your previous and current relationships and the negative impacts. Again, write down this. Writing things down helps to ground them and cement them in your reality. With intention, it also helps to clear them from your mind. Don’t forget to look at the relationships you perhaps don’t consider- like for example- an acquaintance or a friend of a friend.
- Personal Power
The solar plexus is located between the belly button and the rib cage. It’s themes include personal power and some self-aspects. Self-confidence, self-belief and self-worth. It develops between the ages of 14 and 21. Look at these times. For this chakra, think about your self-aspects- looking deeply at yourself. How do you feel about your own confidence? Your sense of worth or your self-belief? Are you compensating in any area?
- Unconditional Love. Love Love.
The glorious heart chakra, corresponding to green or pink, is situated in the centre of the chest just above the breasts. It develops between 21 and 28 years old. Themes for the heart chakra include self-love, romantic relationships and emotional expression. Again, for this chakra look at the ages of 21 to 28 but also your current self-love o’meter and your past and current romantic relationships. In those relationships was the love balanced or were there boundaries that were overstepped? You’ve got to be really fucking honest here. Look at your emotional expression. Do you hold back talking about your feelings either positive or negative?
- Communication, Truth and Will.
The throat chakra, corresponding to blue, is situated at the base of the throat. It is the chakra for expression, listening and will. It develops between 28 and 35 years old (this is me now! Oh yeah! :)). Anyhow, it’s here that you have to investigate and analyse your TRUTH. Are you being true to yourself in your expression, in your communication with others and in your communication with yourself? Again, look at the ages of 28 to 35 but also think of times at other ages where you haven’t been as true to yourself as you perhaps could of been. Lying doesn’t sit well in this chakra or bullshitting to yourself.
- Intuition, Perception, Thought, Morals.
Next up is the commonly known third eye chakra located in the middle of the forehead. This chakra develops between the ages of 35 and 42. Themes for this chakra include intuition, perception, thought and morals.
Some questions to answer for this chakra’s emotional healing may be:
Am I intuitive? The answer should be yes. If its not, email me please stephanieraepritchard@gmail.com and we can book in (it’s a free chat) and discuss it 🙂
Am I following my own moral compass?
Am I happy about this?
Is my perception clear and focused or does it lack focus?
Am I wise?
Could I be more knowledgeable?
Look at the ages of 35 to 42 as well as go over your life and write down times where you haven’t been as wise as you could of been, you haven’t followed your moral compass, you haven’t followed your intuition and you have not used your perception as well as you could have. After this, see what emotions, thoughts and sensations come up for you in your mind and body.
- The Purpose of Your Life
And finally, the crown chakra is situated just above the head. It is seen as white or violet and it develops between the ages of 42 and 49 years old. Themes for this chakra include life purpose, oneness and divine knowledge.
For this chakra, write down whether you feel you know your life purpose in your life and what it is, write down ages and times where you weren’t sure of your life purpose and write down whether you believe you are the master of your own destiny. Do you control the direction of your life?
- Repeat the Chakra Meditation
You read that correctly. Try the meditation again. This time you have all the awareness of your negative emotions. You will see that as you breathe deeply with intention you will release the burdens of your negative emotions.
Moving Forward: Walking into the new Horizon
You may feel lighter, and feel as though things have shifted or it may take some time. Now I am going to give you a few more tools to work on your emotional self as you move forward. You may have to repeat the above process again if you feel intuitively to do so.
